Premier 6' Ultralight

"I have been fishing a lot more ultralight gear the past two years. And I have been loving it. I wanted to get a quality rod. I have one decent Bass Pro Shops ultralight. And a BPS and Ugly Stick that are barely okay. I sold a bass rod to get a good ultralight. I found Bass Pro Shops had their Premier split grips on clearance because St Croix updated the rods and they were going to carry just the regular production models. The split grips were an BPS exclusive. It is a very nice rod. I waited to review it until I had a good amount of fishing time with it and caught some decent fish with it to see how they handled them. It does well casting lighter lures. But it also handles larger fish just fine. It has a good tip but has some backbone. I don't fish lures that require a lot of sensitivity. But it seems to be pretty good. Overall I am happy with this rod. To me it seems to be equivalent of the Triumph series. The difference being the Triumphs are made in Mexico and the Premiers are made in the USA. I don't mind paying a little more to have it built in the USA. I have a Triumph ML spinning rod and love it. Since this was on clearance I got it for just a little more then the Triumphs are. But they don't have many options for ultralights in the Triumph line. I was thinking of getting a Panfish series. But decided on this one. If it broke or was stolen would I replace it with the same one? Probably not. Not at the prices they are now. They are to high for my limited income. If I had the money? Yes I would."

"Premier 6'6" Medium Power fast action did amazing in mid-current river jigging. Although we were chasing walleye and did well, 8 total species caught and this rod preformed amazing!"
